If you are considering venturing into this profession in the long run, here are a few things you need to be in the know of.

  • The starting salary of an accountant may depend on a number of factors such as the size of the firm, the industry sector you work in and the location of your job.
  • Your average salary right after graduation and acquiring the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants professional qualification will be about £28,889.
  • Salaries at the senior level position range from around £45,000 – £120,000 plus.

  • Start by making sure that your resume is extremely strong. Before you start looking for an accounting job, make sure you spend time creating a clean and professional looking resume for yourself.
  • Now start networking with potential employers by participating in as many career fairs as possible. Schools that offer prominent accounting programs will tend to attract some of the best firms in the business.
  • Become a part of a professional accounting organisation in your city. You will be able to do so through your university’s accounting department. Becoming a member in such organisations help add value to your resume.
