Avoid Battling What You Don’t Want | Focus On What Makes You Happy

Focus On What Makes You Happy

I realize this is not necessarily about finances or economics but to me, it is all intertwined.   I read this verse, and am not really sure where it came from, but I think it has great meaning.  “I place all my power in your care and trust you to do for me what I cannot do for myself”.  Most of us have something in our lives that dictate our daily routine; whether its debt, joblessness, addiction, an unfulfilling job, etc, etc.  What this is telling us is, rather than battling what you don’t want or don’t like, focus on what you do want, what makes you happy.  I have to remind myself often, how fortunate I truly am.  With so much negativity in the world, often times from the media, it is hard to focus on what is good.

PROFOUND INFLUENCE OVER MY LIFE

I am struggling to kick my caffeine addiction, obviously not too much struggle as I am drinking my diet coke while writing this.  That said, I think caffeine has a profound influence over my life.  It guides my daily routine, when I get up in the morning, I plan what gas station I am going to stop at to get my diet drink.  I need to stop letting it dictate my decision making.  I was having a conversation with a friend about this subject and he said rather than focus on what you don’t want, seek a positive mental attitude and focus on what makes you happy.

ONLY GIVES “IT” MORE POWER

What I found out is that fighting against something in my life only gives “it” more power over my life.  Being a competitive person, I hate that fact that the caffeine is winning, and I for some reason am letting it. I am going to focus my energy in the morning on what makes me happy rather than what path I need to take to get my diet drink.  I think this can apply to about anything that causes unhappiness.  If your debt or joblessness is causing anguish, join a support group and focus on positive energy.  Take the focus off of your issues and help others think of ways to solve what their problems are.  It may make your issues seem inconsequential and with being exposed to other like minded people may actually lead to eradication of your problem.  There are so many good people, who do great things that go unrecognized.  Be one of them rather than being what society portrays us to be:  Everyone out for themselves, selfish and self-centered.  I thought writing this may help brighten someones day, hope it did!
